This is a good blog post of a great quote. It is attributed to the philosopher and philosopher-king of medieval times John Locke, “It is impossible to exist in a state of pure consciousness if you are not self-conscious.
John Locke is one of the most important philosophers in the history of the United States. He penned some of the most important thoughts on government and individual rights in the 16th century. Locke is well known for his philosophy of “self-government” which states that your “freedom” is entirely up to you.
As a result, most of our beliefs and behaviors are influenced by the ideas of Locke. His philosophy of self-government is, for example, a core belief of the United States government. Just check out the way the government of the United States regulates everything from the air we breathe to the water we drink. That’s pretty mind-blowing, especially when you realize that a lot of what the government is doing to us is actually to help Locke’s philosophy of self-government.
The problem with Locke’s philosophy is that it is a bit over-burdened with too many ideas. What is the government to do after you have been taken from your parents? Well the government isnt to force you to do it. Locke would say that if you are a child, you are free to decide that you dont want to be ruled by the government. The government, in order to be effective, has to have a reason to be doing something.
Locke is not against government, but he is against government over-reacting to the people. While Locke is a bit of a libertarian at times, he believes that the government has a responsibility to protect its citizens and to ensure their safety.
If you have a problem with the government, you can always take a stand on your own, and make sure that the government is doing it’s job. Even if this means making a rule that your child does not have to be in government school, you’re free to do whatever you want, as long as you’re doing the responsible thing.
If you feel that Locke has a problem with the government, you can always go to a public forum, and state your argument for why you think the government is doing something wrong.

The government is the most important thing in this world, so if you can do your job and not get in trouble (as most government employees do), you should be fine. Also, the government has a lot of power, which is why we need to take care of it. If that means getting into fights, doing things that seem illegal, or being in an abusive relationship, then do what you have to do, and dont worry about the government.
